Why us?
When I realized that my philosophy of a back to basics approach was a shared one and after having worked at other facilities where early childhood education was just a job and not a calling, I decided to make my dream a reality. My dream was to open a preschool/daycare where a child's emotional well being and sense of security was paramount. It is a fairy tale come true, hence the introduction of my preschool/daycare—Once Upon a Time.
Lisa Montalto, formerly Director of The Flying Goose and The International Preschool, would like to invite you to become a part of the Once Upon A Time family as she introduces you to her facility. Lisa has a degree is speech pathology and audiology, elementary and early childhood education as well as a masters in building supervision and administration. She is also a special education advocate. Let her years of experience, caring, and nurturing be the foundation on which your child's success is built.
We are proud of our back to basics approach to childcare and believe that providing a safe and comfortable environment is the most important service we can offer a child. Children cannot learn effectively if they do not feel safe in their environment and with our nurturing staff and the care they offer. Not only do we believe in providing a safe and welcoming environment as a basis for our care, but we know that the cookie cutter concept for childcare does not work. Each child is given individualized attention designed to meet their own gifts and needs.
We encourage the natural curiosity of children. This means accepting that while scheduling is important, sometimes the curiosity of a child causes your day to take a different turn. Encouraging the questioning, creativity, and love of learning natural to a child's disposition allows us to take advantage of teachable moments that provide a lasting impact.
